Background:

The term "child prodigy" was often thrown around to describe Nicot in his pre-Starfleet years. From a very early age, he exhibited a natural gift for mathmatics and technology (specifically computers). Nevertheless, Nicot proved to be a free spirit and could often times be disruptive and agitating. His parents encouraged him to enter the Daystrom Institute at the age of fifteen, rather than attend Starfleet Academy. Nicot reluctantly obeyed the wishes of his parents and entered into the Institute to study Computer Science. While Nicot proved to be more than capable of the work he was doing, his professors were constantly dismayed by his lack of effort in classwork. Two years after he was first admitted into the Institute, it was discovered that Nicot had been changing his grades via slicing for most of his classes--a discovery that proved to be quite an embarrasment to the Institute. While no legal action was taken against him, Nicot was kicked out of the Institute and would not be able to enroll there in the future. Despite his legal and scholastic troubles, Nicot was accepted into Starfleet Academy when he applied a year later.

Starfleet Career:

Nicot performed much better at the Academy than he had at the Institute. While he still tended to show the same lack of effort, he still managed to get excellent grades, graduating twenty-fifth in his class. Nicot's most infamous stunt at the Academy came when he attempted to re-program the Kobayshi Maru in the same manner James T. Kirk had done more than a century beforehand--the attempt failed as his tampering was detected and corrected for.

Nicot's computer aptitude and fairly impressive tactical aptitude attracted the attention of Starfleet Intelligence and Nicot was assigned to Starbase 7 for further training as an operative. After a year and a half, Nicot was officially made a Starfleet Intelligence Operative. He recieved posting to the USS Agamemnon, serving in the security division. Nicot remained on the Agamemnon for the next two and a half years before working his way up to lieutenant junior grade at the posting of Beta-shift Operations Manager. Concurrent with his time on the Agamemnon, Nicot served as an independant agent for several Starfleet Intelligence missions, never tied to one team.

Nicot eventually attracted the notice of Lieutenant Commander Dade Rojc, who was in the process of building his own Intelligence unit. The two officers became quick friends and before long, Nicot not only agreed to join Rojc's team, but also transferred to the USS Excelsior to allow for better coordination of the team. Nicot seemed to pick up much of Rojc's sense of responsiblity and has hence become an exemplary officer.

In early 2376, Nicot was given the choice between the posting of Chief of Security and Tactical Operations onboard the Excelsior-B or Operations Manager onboard the newly commissioned USS Phantom. Curious to see what the new starship had to offer and wanting to stay close to his friends, Nicot chose the assignment onboard the Phantom, where he proved to be instrumental in ironing out several of the software bugs in the ship's programming.
